Building a House

Building a House

Your Health Is Like a New Home Project

There is a fairly standard way to build a house.

This is good, because we wouldn't want to guess how to build a house each time we did it.

And there are a few key events on the project timeline that need to happen in the right order every time.

Obviously it's hard to put a roof on if there's no frame. And a solid frame needs to go on a solid foundation.

But there are also things on the timeline that can be moved around, depending on weather, availability of materials and trades and labour.

The point of having a project timeline is so the house is built as quickly as possible, with as little hold up as possible.

Now, obviously, our health is very different to building a house, but there are a few things we can takeaway from the house building process.

The first one is to follow a process.

Now the process doesn't need to be exactly the same as someone else, but you shouldn't be guessing how to do it each time your try. This can be a simple as sitting down for 10 minutes and writing out a 12 month plan for your health. What will be your monthly focus? 12 steps to follow for 12 months.

The second is to not try and do everything at once.

Trying to start training, new diet, get 8 hours sleep, meditate 15 minutes a day and so on, is like getting all the trades in at once to do their part on the house. There needs to not only be an order to everything, but trying to do everything at once actually slows down the process. Instead, give yourself room, do only one or two things at once, and then do the next thing.

And at the end of it all, hopefully you'll have a body and mind you're happy to live in.

Until next time,

Marco
