Cynicism Doesn't Help Anyone
Cynicism Doesn't Help Anyone
Don't Hold Yourself Back Before You've Even Started
Sometimes our default position to something we don't understand or are unsure of, is to be cynical.
It's easy to see why.
It's a defense mechanism aimed at protecting ourselves.
But the problem is, it helps no one.
How does being somewhat negative about something help us, or anyone?
In our health and fitness, it's easy to be cynical as well.
Some of the claims made are simply outrageous.
Especially when as a coach, I see over and over again what gets results for people, and it's not these quick fixes.
But that cynicism can become so consuming, that we do nothing at all.
Believing that nothing can help us and it's all bullshit.
That mindset not only holds you back, but it holds others back as well.
This isn't to say that you should be gullible and believe everything, but being somewhat positive about your chances of success will definitely help.
The other mindset to take into it, is to think "this might not work".
Of course, the other side to that is that it might.
And all of it is an experiment to see what works for you.
Breaking the habit of being cynical isn't easy.
But assuming something won't work will ensure it won't.
Cynicism doesn't help anyone.
Especially yourself.
Until next time,
Marco
