Pretending to Be a Hero

Pretending to Be a Hero

You Can Be the Hero In Those Stories

When you were young, you might have spent time pretending to be a superhero of some sort.

Maybe it was the heroes we've become so familiar with in the last 20 years or so through Hollywood.

Batman, Superman, Iron Man.

Or maybe it was shows that we watched, maybe something like the Power Rangers.

Either way, pretending to be a hero was fun.

It made us feel special and made us feel like we could do something special.

Now as we're older though, there's no more pretending.

We've grown up.

And it's time for our kids to pretend to be the hero.

But this has been happening since the dawn of time for humans.

We've always pretended.

So much so, that many of our myths and legends are telling the same story.

Stories which our modern heroes are derived from.

So why do we keep telling these stories?

Why have stories of heroes, legends and Gods continued to be passed down to us?

Because these are the stories about us.

These are the stories of how simple humans like us can be elevated to something more, if only we'd make the choice.

How does a Marvel movie become the biggest movie ever?

Sure, good marketing helps.

But that hasn't helped all the other movies before it.

No, these stories resonate with us.

These stories are like those we heard before, only thousands of years ago.

And these stories are actually about us.

When Iron Man comes full circle from the selfish millionaire who seemingly has it all, to the person who would sacrifice everything to save the day.

That's a story about us.

About what we could do.

About who we could be.

And it's there for each of us.

Those God like abilities are there for us.

These stories are about the best parts of us.

About being courageous and brave.

About being resilient and stoic in the face of challenge.

About being strong.

About caring and sacrificing.

About doing what's required and stepping up when things go bad.

When you were young, there was a reason you were pretending to be those heroes.

Because it made you feel special.

So maybe it's time to start pretending again.

But this, keep pretending until you become the very best of the heroes in those stories.

Until you become the very best you.

Until next time,

Marco
