The Key Log


During the early logging industry in Europe and North America, people would do log driving, which was a way of transporting the sawn tree trunks to the mills along the rivers by floating them downstream using the current.

Sometimes splash dams were created to make sure the logs floated down at a specific schedule. The splash dams were basically temporary dams which allowed water to build up, so more logs could be floated at once. This of course meant production could be planned and controlled, removing delays which could occur for any number of reasons.

The problem was, the more logs you floated down at once, the more likely of a log jam occurring, where all the logs would get caught up on each and the banks, stopping all of them floating down.

Which is when you had to find the key log, the one log that would unlock all the others, and get things moving again.

When it comes to our health, they are a few options for what could be our key log. Nutrition plays a huge role in our health and body composition. As does sleep. But neither provide that immediate feeling of satisfaction or accomplishment.

They say abs are made in the kitchen, indicating just how important nutrition is, but I believe that training/exercise/movement is still the key log in everyone's lives. That one thing we can do each day to make everything else better. To make us stronger, think more clearly, give us more energy and improve our mental health.

Despite everything that's said in the media about what you need to do to get healthy, maybe focusing on the key log first is the answer.
