The Long Game
The Long Game
Health Isn't Fixed in a 12 Week Challenge
I often say that the problem with getting healthy, is that it's always a problem.
What I mean is that just because we get fit and healthy, doesn't mean the problem is solved.
We can't stop.
If we do, we slowly become unfit and unhealthy again.
There are two ways to take this:
Since it's a never ending problem, why even try to solve it?
Since it's a never ending problem, be patient and continue to work on it.
If there was an unsolvable problem in your life, which didn't have much of a impact on you, then I would say to ignore it.
Deal with it the way it is and accept it.
But ignoring our health tends to have a bit of a knock on effect for the rest of our life.
So we're stuck.
We have a problem that never ends, yet has a massive impact on our lives.
And so, we need to be patient, knowing our health operates on a scale.
Some days, weeks and months (and hopefully years), we're a 9 or 10 out of 10.
And some days, weeks and month (and hopefully not years), we're a 5 or 6 out of 10.
So it's important to keep working on it, aiming for those 9's and 10's, knowing that sometimes we're not going to reach it.
It's a long game.
We need to be patient.
We need to think longer term - months and years, not weeks like we usually do.
And when we do that, we'll develop the habits that will lead us to getting those 9's and 10's more often and for longer.
Until next time,
Marco
