A Simple Way to Feel Healthier Today
If someone were to ask me a simple way they could improve their health today, I would point to their sleep.
Sleep isn't a particularly exciting answer.
And it's definitely not a magic pill many would hope for.
But it is one of the best ways to improve everything in your day.
The problem is now with all our distractions, we're working on less and less sleep.
I'm guilty of this too.
And it's not like we don't know how much sleep we need.
The recommendation has been 8 hours for what seems an eternity.
It's not that you won't feel good on less - some people actually only need 7 hours, but it's unlikely that's you.
And if you're convinced you're good on anything less than 7, you've forgotten what feeling good actually feels like.
But to start, don't go for it all at once, because the body likes things the way it is, and you need to make changes slowly for them to take effect.
So firstly, you need to get an understanding of how much sleep you get.
You can probably roughly work this out, especially if you consider the normal time you go to bed.
Then add 15 minutes to it.
And make it consistent.
So if you're usually going to bed at midnight, make an effort to make it 11:45pm.
After a week, go to bed another 15 minutes earlier and so on until you're close to that magic 8 hour mark.
The body loves enough sleep, and consistency in your sleep.
So if you can get into a consistent sleep routine, you'll really feels the effects.
And the effects are worth it:
Better concentration, better energy levels, better stress levels, better mood and it helps to keep bodyfat off.
So yes, while the magic pill is an attractive option; if you find one that actually works, the simple act of getting enough sleep could make a world of difference for your life.
Summary:
Be consistent with the times you go to sleep and wake up
Increase your sleep times by 15 minutes at a time each week until you are getting 8 hours sleep
Until next time,
Marco
