But Wait, There's More
But Wait, There's More
Why Short Term Fitness Challenges Fail
A few years ago, I ran a 6 week challenge, the first I'd ever run.
It was a high priced challenge - I threw the kitchen sink at clients with value.
And it was a success, especially for a few clients who really committed.
From that, 2 or 3 clients stayed on and really continued to make progress.
Many of the other clients didn't however.
That was partly my fault.
But thinking about it now, it's often the problem with short term challenges.
It's not that they're bad.
They just get many people into a short term mindset, thinking the results will come during the challenge.
And often results do come.
But it's not everything that could be achieved.
And more importantly, it's definitely not the end.
You see, many people do a challenge, and think "okay, after this I'm fit".
But there really is only so much you can do in short term challenges.
And even if you are ultra successful with them, there comes another challenge.
What do you do afterwards?
Because that's the problem with your health - it's always a problem.
And so it's not a "one and done" situation.
It's something that always requires effort.
This isn't to say that once you've achieved great results, you need to continue to sacrifice and struggle.
But it's not like you can just stop either, and hope the results stick around for the rest of your life.
And so, a short term challenge may be your best starting point.
At least, that's the mindset you need to take into it.
"This is the start of my journey looking after my health, but definitely not the end".
But don't assume it will be the end.
Because of course, if all it took was a 6 week challenge, then the gyms would be empty by now.
Until next time,
Marco
