Caring Enough to Call
Caring Enough to Call
Coaching Clients, Not Numbers
Coaching can be a tough job.
At least if you make a commitment to your clients.
It takes an emotional commitment, that can leave you feeling pretty worn out by the end of the week.
But I love it.
For me, it's all about the connection to the clients.
Yes helping clients get fit and healthy is important.
But most people could do that by themselves with enough motivation.
No, most often the reason people stay is because of the connection.
And when you connect in that way, it can be hard to say goodbye.
As a business owner, you know everyone eventually says goodbye.
And that can be hard when you've made a connection.
But the other option is just treating clients like numbers.
Get as many as possible in.
Treat them as if they're the same person.
Don't listen.
Don't care.
Instead, I prefer to care enough to call or message.
Or check in in some way and just see how they're going.
Sometimes it's just spending a bit more time with them during the semi-private sessions.
Just listening (most people don't want you to solve their problems, just to care enough to listen).
It's not that the idea of maximising client numbers is bad.
Business is business after all.
But for me, an investment of time into my clients makes all the difference.
We're treated like consumers all day.
It feels good to be treated like a human now and then.
Until next time,
Marco
