Why is it Important for YOU to be Healthy?

Years ago when I started training, I had depression.

It's an old story, I've told it a lot, but it's still relevant to today, because I wouldn't be doing what I'm doing if it wasn't for that.

I was 23 at the time, working in a job which I didn't overly enjoy, and feeling lost.

The depression started earlier, but I finally decided to do something at that point.

Sometimes, you have to get to your lowest point before you realise you can't go any further down, so you might as well come back up.

As you can imagine, that was a strong driver for me to change my life and be healthy.

But why is it important for you to be healthy?

The emphasis is on 'you'. Not "why is it important to be healthy?", as a general statement for the masses.

If you're reading this, I am asking you and only you.

This is the most important question, because there are reasons which I might tell you, there are reasons which the media may tell you, but that doesn't get away from the fact that it's up to you to take care of your health.

All of us have a reason to be healthy even if finding that reason can be difficult.

But it's important that each of us finds it as individuals.

And most of is don't find it.

At least those of us who make no effort to look after our health.

If you object to training because of time or money, then you haven't found the reason.

This isn't to say that time and money aren't important, but it comes with the assumptions that 1. training takes a long time (and that you don't waste time on useless things) and 2. training is expensive.

There are products and services to alleviate all your concerns.

But if time and money are your reasons, then you're saying they're more important than your health; you just haven't found your reason to be healthy.

Ever noticed how people can turn their lives around when they have kids? That's a pretty strong reason.

I can't overstate enough the importance of training for our physical and mental health.

In fact, I believe it's the reason most people have an underlying sense of dread and anxiety.

It has to be more than just eating well. That's part of the equation.

But movement, training, exercise...being connected with our body and being present, is the single most important thing you can do for your health.

So, why is it important for you to be healthy?
