Health Is a Skill

Our View of Health is All Wrong


Health is a skill.

Or at least getting healthy and staying healthy is.

Sometimes where we go wrong is we think it's a destination.

An end point to reach before going for another goal.

And it can be exactly that if you choose.

But you still have the problem of your health as you get older.

Instead, we need to understand that we can learn how to be healthy.

We can learn how to lose weight, get stronger, add muscle, become fitter, feel great and have energy.

This is great to know, because this gives us time.

It gives us a practice which is less focused on results, and more focused on the process.

And if we learn the right process, then we'll get the right results.

And so, doing our short term fitness challenges aren't bad as such.

But do they give us enough time to learn this skill?

Do we learn anything at all?

What if instead we look at the problem from a longer term point of view?

What if we decided we wanted to learn how to do it so we could keep doing it?

And like any skill, with enough time and patience, you can become almost world class at it.
