Salads vs Donuts

Salads vs Donuts

Yesterday I wrote about how short term pleasure can be so addictive, and combating that feeling is part of the fight for our long term health.

I actually talked to some friends about this recently.

Truthfully, I love the instant gratification I get when I eat some Krispy Kreme donuts. I love ice cream, cake and chocolate.

And I love all of those things much more than a salad. MUCH MORE!

In fact, I have often thought how much more pleasurable it would be to eat junk food all the time.

And with my genetics - I'm naturally slimmer and always have been - I could easily do it and not put on too much weight.

But each day, I make the decision that makes me feel better overall, in terms of energy levels, focus, pain in joints etc.

This is the challenge we face.

A salad (or anything healthy), versus that amazingly tasty junk food that just fires our senses and makes us feel amazing instantly.

Long term health versus short term pleasure.

Something that sucks (salad doesn't suck, but it can feel that way for you, just like exercise can) versus something that feels really awesome.

The choices are actually quite simple, but not easy to make.

Until next time,

Marco
