Caring Enough to Learn a Skill
Caring Enough to Learn a Skill
Getting Healthy Is Just Learning a New Skill
Getting healthy is a skill.
You're not just someone who is or isn't healthy.
Yes, health is based on habits, but habits are learned.
And just like you can learn bad habits which leads to poor health, you can learn good habits and skills.
And so, getting healthy is a skill.
The question is, do you care enough to learn the skill?
There are plenty of things in life that we commit our time to.
Sports, music, a language, even our work.
And in each case, we're committing to learning the skill required to become better at it.
We know it will obviously take time to learn.
And we know there's a good chance we won't be very good at it - at least at the start.
Sometimes we don't even enjoy it that much.
But we care about it, so we put in the time and effort to learn.
Our health is similar.
The problem is, we the industry, have been trying to convince you for a long time that you can get healthy really quickly (you can actually).
But that makes us think it's something that we get, and don't need to think about again.
Our health isn't like that.
It takes time to learn how to become healthier.
It takes time to learn how to stay healthier.
And it takes time to learn how to do that all in the context of our ever changing lives.
If you want to get healthy, don't think it's a 12 week challenge and then it's done.
Think of it as a skill, that takes time to learn.
And something you'll always learn about more as you get older.
But do you care enough about your health to learn the skill?
Until next time,
Marco
