Consistency Brings Rewards

You may or may not have heard the news - an NFT of a digital artwork was sold for the equivalent of $69 million.

An NFT is a non-fungible token is a digital file which has a unique identity and ownership.

In the case of this digital artwork, think of it as getting an exclusive signed copy of the artwork.

Why this represents an interesting and exciting time in the world in regards to digital currency and exchange, I'm personally more interested by the person who created the artwork.

I've been following the artist, Mike Winklemann, also known as Beeple for a few years now.

His artwork is both amazing and insane.

Relevant and irreverent.

But more than anything, his artwork is consistent.

While I've been following him for a few years, he's being honing and practicing his craft for years.

He's been practicing everyday in fact, for 13 years straight.

Let's consider this: he has created artworks for 5066 days in a row by his count.

Artworks which are started, and finished in one day.

It's easy to image how you can become good at something when you practice so often.

The price paid for the artwork is a testament to his hard work and consistency.

What makes it better, is that the goal wasn't to sell an artwork for that much.

It was to practice his art daily so he could improve.

And along the way, there's been plenty of shit - that's the point.

You have to go through shit to get good.

And often when you're really good at something, they'll pay you for it.

And there's a lesson for your health.

It's no that you should train and eat your diet perfectly everyday for 5066 days.

Although that would probably do the trick.

And it's not that you should get healthy to get paid - although that is possible as well.

But the lesson is that consistency is where the magic lies.

It's all a practice and a process.

The result is important, but the process even more so.

And focusing on the process brings the result and reward.

And the consistency is a reward itself.

Keeping the streak going also becomes a motivation.

So often with our health and body composition, we think so much about the result.

And we think and hope it will be a short process.

As a industry we don't help.

We offer 30 day challenges that are "guaranteed to get results".

But it's about consistency.

It's about showing up although we don't feel like it, and doing something, anything.

Sometimes it can feel so frustrating or flat.

But that flat training session is the lead up to the following great one.

And the streak continues.

The answer isn't the shortcut, the hack or the magic pill.

The answer is showing up over and over again.

Even if it's shit.

Especially when it's shit.

And build the streak, the process and the practice.

And that will bring the result and reward.

Until next time,

Marco
