Training Over 35
Training Over 35
Why Most Training Methods Aren't Right for You
How would it feel to be your fittest and healthiest at the age of 35 or older? Impossible right?
Well it's not, but the chances of you achieving it are slim.
Now, I'm going to be brutally honest - it's partly your fault. But this is no surprise, because most things in life are partly your fault. Just like most things in my life are partly mine.
But it's also partly our fault too. And by "our", I mean the fitness industry.
We offer 12 week challenges (or less), which are mostly bullshit, but sometimes work.
We offer stupid supplements like Fit Tea's and fat burners, which are not the magic pill you hope for.
And we've been selling this idea around functional training and high intensity exercise for long enough for it to be the norm, even though it doesn't really get many people the results they want.
So instead, here are a few things I've found training clients over 35:
A focus should be put on progressive overload, which is the act of basically adding weight to the barbell over time. In other words, getting stronger.
Training should be simple, especially because most people are already overwhelmed from everything else in their life.
A longer term focus should be applied to training; the idea shouldn't be to crush yourself, or look incredible, it should be long term health, which will likely help you look great anyway.
Unfortunately, most training provided is mostly short term focused, and will only provide initial training results. This isn't to say they're bad as such, but it just becomes difficult to stay consistent with training when results dry up.
There is another option though, and that is having fun with the training, having fun with the people you train with and getting results you deserve and are proud of. It is possible, and the reason why my over 35 clients are getting results. If you want to find out more, click here.
Until next time,
