Why Does This Keep Happening to Me?

There I was stuck again, a feeling of overwhelm. A feeling like I couldn't get ahead.

"Is this all there is?" I thought. Wake, work and repeat.

This was going to be my life until I was 65.

At 22 you feel like you should have it worked out, but you don't.

Unfortunately, for many of us, as we get older, we still feel like this.

The truth: it's up to you to work it out, and you'll probably never work it out fully anyway.

Now, that feeling doesn't pop up for me anymore.

It's not so much that I've got the answer.

It's more like I know what answer I want.

And, surprisingly, it all started with training.

Have you ever felt that feeling of overwhelm, or maybe it feels more like dread? Like you know life could be better, but you're just unsure how to get out of Groundhog Day.

What changed for me was a choice to take control.

It was only taking control of my health, but it was a start. It was a choice to control what I could control.

The Stoic philosophy is built around this idea. Focus on what you have control over, and the rest needs no more attention than it needs.

Since then, the training that helped change my life, the training I had control of, is the industry I find myself in, helping others, changing lives, working for myself.

I controlled what I could control, and forgot the rest.

I developed discipline, consistency, a strong mind, a strong durable body. An ability to keep going when it's tough, and a growth mindset; an understanding that I can improve at everything. Everything.

If I choose.

I call this being Strong for Life.

It's what I teach clients, and I believe it can help everyone.

Why? Because it's about learning qualities that make our life better, and taking control of the things we can control.

You can control your health.

And improving your health is pretty important, so yeah, that helps too.

In life, there will be many things that will throw us off our path. Things that stress us, things that surprise us and leave us feeling lost and low.

And what will be the thing we anchor our life to?

Family is a great one to use, but people will leave our life.

Work? The place you're never that excited to be? Maybe not the best idea.

I use training and movement as my anchor. I believe you should too.

It's the thing I have control over.

It's the thing that improves my life in an instant and in the long term.

And it's the thing you can use as the foundation to build everything on top of.

Take control. Be Strong for Life.
